Learn Your Hymenoptera!

Just to remind you, Dominican Republic is in the Caribbean. Its tropical. There's beaches. And island drinks. Oh yeah, lots of insects too!

A Hymenoptera Identification course will be held in Dominican Republic during 7-14 September 2008. The instructors are:

Dr. Michael Sharkey - University of Kentucky
Dr. Michael Gates - USDA-ARS Systematic Entomology Lab
Dr. Matthew Buffington - USDA-ARS Systematic Entomology Lab
Dr. James Pitts - Utah State University
Dr. Robert Kula - USDA-ARS Systematic Entomology Lab
Dr. Lubomir Masner - Canadian National Collection of INsects
Dr. David Wahl - American Entomological Institute

  1. Beaches. Island Drinks. Bugs.

Sounds like heaven for Invertebrate Biologists.

  2. I'll be there in a week. Seriously. I'll probably be skipping the bugs though - not sure my wife wants to spend our vacation exploring the island's 6-legged citizens. We'll do plenty of snorkeling however, so there should still be inverts galore.

  3. Jim, I hate you and your family. But I better see some awesome invert pics!

  4. Family implies children. I never said my family was going to the DR. There will be no children there. They'll be left behind with their grandparents.

How much do you hate me now?

  5. I really find this blog interesting since I live on the ocean and am surrounded by abundant marine life all the time..I just wonder if the majority of the people on the earth care about the ocean as much as they care about tv or their cars or their lifestyle. At some point it will be too late to realize what we have lost.
